Benaddict HolmesDreaming with a broken heart — Chapter 4: Chapter 4
He knew when he first saw her that she was special. Because, not everything beautiful is necessarily the creation of magic. Written simply because the idea of Remus and Molly together made me squeal :) AU.
The days pass by and he never mentions even a word about his problem to her. He's in his seventh year and the NEWTs are approaching. This is the least of his worries because his goal is not to get a job at the ministry or to become a healer. There is no warm welcome awaiting him at these places despite his extraordinarily good grades. The thought is not a pleasant one by any means, but he, with his fellow Gryffindors, has made the choice. He is going to join the Order of Phoenix and fight against Lord Voldemort. They haven't spoken about it but the words hang unsaid, in the air around them. Their exams are over before they know it and their results arrive soon after. To nobody's surprise, Lily Evans is the topper of their batch, followed by him. He's with Molly when he gets his results and she squeals in delight on seeing his marksheet but grows solemn when he tells her about his plans to and join the Order. H=ard Things go to hell after that. They're fighting hard and deaths are news no more. The ultimate blow comes when the Death Eaters decide to go for the Order's loved ones instead of the members themselves. Desperate to get their family back, the Order members almost always end up doing as the Death Eaters command. Molly is usually at his house when he returns home. She has all but moved in. Half her possessions are scattered across his room and she frequently stays over. He usually takes the couch and she sleeps in his bed but in the morning he almost always finds up curled next to him. Giving up on his attempts at chivalry, he shares the bed with her, listening to her breathing, finding solace in the fact that she is alive and well. Her father having passed away a year ago, she is trying hard to pull herself together, but the tired eyes behind the cheerful smile give away just how much she misses her father. Remus is her only source of comfort at times like these, when the bittersweet memories threaten to engulf her. In turn, families of his old school friends are being ripped apart every now and then and her presence is the only thing that keeps him from falling apart. The death of James and Lily and the imprisonment of Sirius almost destroy him. Three of his dearest friends are dead and one is in Azkaban for what looks like a lifetime. Lily's sacrifice had worked though, and at a time when the whole world was celebrating Lord Voldemort's downfall at the hands of little Harry Potter, Remus Lupin lay curled up in a corner with a bottle of firewhiskey, tears streaming down his eyes and wishing to God that the pain and emptiness that was on the verge of consuming him whole, would somehow go away.
